What is an Alternative Gift Fair?
The 2008 Holiday Alternative Gift Fair is a collection of local and national nonprofit organizations to sell alternative gifts to raise money for their various causes and to simplify Holiday shopping and giving. FLRC will sponsor the Fair as a gift to the community to encourage a reappraisal of what giving at the Holiday Season really means. Our hope is to contribute to simplifying the Holiday Season while helping several nonprofit organizations.
What is an Alternative Gift?
Let us say you can not think of a gift for your sister, who has everything and does not really need another one. You come to the Holiday Alternative Gift Fair and make a donation to one of the many deserving nonprofit organizations represented at the fair. You make the donation in your sisters name and receive an announcement card (also known as a tribute card) to give to your sister. You have now purchased a terrific gift for your sister and supported a cause dear to her or your heart! Talk about win-win.
This is a great way to spread Holiday cheer. Your sister gets a thoughtful gift from you. You will feel good about finding a gift for your sister that is just the right size and does not need dusting. The nonprofit of you choose to support will receive a much needed donation.
When and where is the Alternative Gift Fair?
The 2008 Holiday Alternative Gift Fair will be on Saturday, November 22, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Valley Mall on Route 33 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
